November 14th - We arrived at the Big Island, jumped into our car, and drove down to the “Southernmost” part of the US, stopped by Black Sand Beach park along the way and hiked for miles to get to the Green Sand beach in Mahana Bay.
Big Island - Day 1
Our first stop
Literally the sand is black and they are very fine
Lava formed along the shore
Tide rushes in
Crashing waves
David and I by the shore
Just sittin’ by the beach
Upclose
Hawaiian Sea Turtle - one of the natural inhabitant
Resting on a protected beach
Next stop - known for their delicious sweetbread
Yes I’m on the Southernmost part of the USA
David with his pink plumeria
After miles of hiking
Green Sand Beach
Mahana Bay has good amount of Olivine minerals in the sand
Just us gettin ready to climb down the cove
David as he get ready to decline the cove
David as he declines
Welcome to Mahana Bay
The rocky slope we’ve climbed down...
And we will climb up to go back to our car
David walking down the beach
Olivine minerals from the volcano...
That makes the water appear more green...
Hence, the name Green Sand Beach
Fun shadows
More fun together
Smile!
Didn’t make it
